Getting started with the Native SDK

The BlackBerry Native SDK for Tablet OS includes all of the tools—compiler, linker, libraries, the QNX Momentics IDE, and command-line tools— that you'll need to start developing applications for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet.

When it comes to testing your application, you can test it using a BlackBerry PlayBook tablet or simulator. Some set-up steps apply only to testing on a device, and other steps apply only to the simulator. Here's a summary of the steps you need to perform to get up and running with the Native SDK:

  1. Request a signing account and signing keys
  2. Install and configure the Native SDK
  3. Install and configure the simulator
  4. Configure your environment for development and deployment
  5. Create your first project
  6. Import and run sample applications
