Tutorial: Render text with FreeType in C

The following tutorial demonstrates how to use the FreeType library and OpenGL ES for text rendering.

This tutorial uses a native window to create an EGL on-screen rendering surface. Text is rendered on this surface by using the FreeType library with OpenGL.

This tutorial demonstrates how to integrate the use of the FreeType library, OpenGL ES 1.1, and Screen Graphics Subsystem to render text.

You will learn to:

  • Create a native context
  • Initialize and configure EGL for rendering
  • Load a background texture
  • Render text using OpenGL ES 1.1

You can download the HelloWorldDisplay sample from GitHub.
