You should! Take a closer look

You might think that release notes are a bit boring, and that's understandable. But they can be a great source of up-to-date information about our releases and documentation. In this article, we examine the release notes and summarize the different sections that are included.

Each release of the BlackBerry 10 Native SDK includes a comprehensive set of release notes. These notes give you information about new features, important changes, bug fixes, and more. When new features are added to the Native SDK, you can find information about them in the release notes, but this information might not appear elsewhere on the documentation website. If you want the latest and greatest about our new features and changes, release notes is the place for you.

Why release notes?

The release notes provide a quick summary of what has changed since the last software release. Important issues are identified that can help you can make informed decisions when developing your apps.

The release notes are a treasure trove of information. You can find:

  • Links to release notes for the BlackBerry 10 Device Simulator and the BlackBerry Native Plug-in for Microsoft Visual Studio
  • Details on upgrading the Native SDK and the Momentics IDE to the current release
  • Highlights of important new features
  • Workarounds (when available) for issues

Sections in the release notes

We divide the release notes into sections to make it easier to find the information that you're looking for.

You can find the Cascades and Core release notes on one page. In the upper-left corner, you can choose which development approach you want to view by clicking the switch focus button. If you are in the middle of the release notes, you can change focus by clicking the accordion at the bottom of each section to display the details of that section for the other development approach.
