Sinew Software Systems is a software development company in India that focuses on delivering the best and most cost-effective mobile phone software solutions. Over the past few years, the company has established itself as an expert in the Symbian operating system and has a proven track record in customer satisfaction, innovation, sales and profitability. Sinew prides themselves on their ability to deliver perfectly tailored mobile apps to their users.
"We were excited to test the BlackBerry 10 platform with our existing app on Symbian. We are very positive that the BB10 platform will be a leading platform in the market." - Hemant Kumar, founder of Sinew Software Systems.
When BlackBerry® announced that it was integrating the QML language to its platform, Sinew Software Systems decided to test their existing QML-based app, FastTube on the BlackBerry® 10 platform. At the time, FastTube was already running on the Symbian operating system but Sinew had identified a golden opportunity - there was no native YouTube app for the BlackBerry® 10 platform.
With a team of QML experts, the company had no problems in porting the app from the Symbian to the BlackBerry® 10 platform. However, the app was not very well received in the beginning, receiving the cold shoulder from users in the market. Sinew began worrying about their bottom line in regards to BlackBerry® apps.
With support from the BlackBerry® development team, Sinew Software Systems was able to quickly enhance the quality of FastTube. Sinew received detailed guidance from the BlackBerry team on how to make improvements and modifications to the app, with a goal of producing a higher quality user experience. Thanks to the ease of use with porting their system into the BlackBerry 10 platform, Sinew was able to update FastTube quickly - and recapture user interest. Since then, the app has been getting a hugely positive response from users, especially within the Asia Pacific region.
"It was a very good experience, porting FastTube from Symbian to the BlackBerry 10 platform," said Hemant Kumar, founder of Sinew Software Systems. "We saved a lot of time in development and had no problems using the development tools, especially with guidance from the BlackBerry team."
An additional suggestion from the BlackBerry® team was to apply for the Built for BlackBerry® designation for FastTube. The Built for BlackBerry® designation signifies that an app or game delivers the signature BlackBerry® 10 experience to its users.
According to Hemant, the designation signifies that a developer has put extra effort into delivering a quality app. In this case, receiving the designation ultimately resulted in a significant increase in downloads for FastTube. "The presence of the Built for BlackBerry logo on our app sets it apart on the BlackBerry App World," said Hemant. "It clearly signifies the quality and value of the app - making it more visible to potential customers and reduces their hesitation to download it."
Since it was launched in April 2013, FastTube has garnered more than 1.467 Million downloads. It has a 4.5 rating with over 4,600 reviews on BlackBerry® World™. The app was also prominently featured on BlackBerry® World™, CrackBerry and BerryReview.
"We have been receiving a lot of feature requests for this app and we are excited to continue rolling out more updates in the future." - Hemant Kumar, founder of Sinew Software Systems.
"It is such an honour to be featured on the BlackBerry World," said Kumar. "Now we're looking forward to investing our time into developing more top-notch apps for the BlackBerry 10 platform," said Kumar.
Sinew Software Systems is excited to continue rolling out more user-requested features for FastTube, beginning with "Playlist Shuffle" and German and Arabic localizations. Sinew also recently released a cross-platform password management app, "Enpass" for the BlackBerry® 10 platform.
