This page shows the options for localization support.

When you click Add, the Add Localizations dropdown list includes all of the locales supported by the target OS version. The simplest mode of operation is one that is untranslated, in which you type the name, description, or image asset path without selecting a language. This generates in the bar-descriptor.xml file an element such as <name> that contains a single string. For translated content, you specify the text or asset for each language annotated by the language code. The result in the bar-descriptor.xml file looks like the following for US English and German:

Name <name> my_app_name <text xml:lang="language_code"> The name displayed in the application installer for the selected locale. May have multiple values for each language. The file name associated with your project for your application.
Description <description> my_app_name <text xml:lang="language_code"> Optional. A brief description about your application for the selected locale. The description you initially assigned to your project.
Icon <icon> <image> Image_Name <text xml:lang="Language_Code"> The icon for the application for the selected language, which should be 86x86. The icon image format is .png 24-bit with alpha channel that is no smaller than 86x86, and no larger than 90x90; however, 86x86 is recommended. Note that .jpeg, .gif, and .bmp are also supported formats.

Specifies the icon to display in the BlackBerry 10 Home screen. Your icon should be 86-by-86 pixels. An icon that is larger than 86-by-86 pixels can't be displayed on the screen. The icon must be included in your BAR file and can be a PNG file or JPG file. You specify the file name for the icon within an XML element named image. For more information about designing application icons, see the BlackBerry UI Guidelines .

Splash Screens <splashScreen> Specify the images to display while the BlackBerry 10 OS loads your application for the selected language. You can specify up to two files separated by a colon (":"). If you specify one file, the device displays the file in a landscape orientation. If you specify two files, the first file is used when the device is in an landscape orientation, and the second file is used when the device is in a portrait orientation. The image for your splash screen must be included in your .bar file and can be a .png, .jpg, .jpeg, .gif, or .bmp file.

The screen resolution of your device can be found in the BlackBerry UI Guidelines . Your splash screen should be the entire resolution size to fill the screen.
