Using the Momentics IDE
The Momentics IDE for BlackBerry is based on the Eclipse Platform developed by the Eclipse Foundation, which is an open consortium of tools vendors.
The Momentics IDE incorporates into the Eclipse framework several plugins designed for building projects for BlackBerry 10 devices. The Momentics tool suite provides an integrated environment, regardless of the host platform you use (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
The Momentics IDE relies on the standard BlackBerry 10 OS tools and Makefile structure.
Start the Momentics IDE
You can start the Momentics IDE for BlackBerry from the desktop icon, or from the menu item in the start or launch menu.
Start the Momentics IDE from the command line
To start the Momentics IDE from the command line, run the qde command.
Use qde to start the Momentics IDE, instead of the eclipse command, because qde configures the proper environment.
- For Windows, navigate to the folder where the qde.exe executable is located, and run the command: qde.
- For Linux, navigate to the folder where the qde script is located, and run the command: ./qde.
- For Mac OS, navigate to the folder where the qde script is located, and run the command: qde. (For example: cd momentics.app/Contents/MacOS/qde.)
You can use the Momentics IDE to build apps for BlackBerry 10 OS-based devices.
Once you understand the basic concepts, you can set up your projects, write code, debug, test, and fine-tune your project.
