Create your first Cascades app
There isn't a right answer when deciding between the two solutions; it's more about what you're comfortable with. Building your UI using QML can be easier and faster than C++, and QML allows you to preview your UI in the QNX Momentics IDE. On the other hand you might be more familiar with C++.
This tutorial shows you how to build the Lightning Crossfade sample app, first by using QML and then using C++. Both apps are also available as downloads on the Sample Apps page.
The app consists of a background, several images, and a Slider control. As you move the slider, the opacity of one of the images decreases, revealing another image behind it.
You will learn to:
- Set up a project
- Use the tools to build and run an app
- Add controls and use layouts
- Use signals and slots
